Meet Tommy’s Friends!

Friends are never apart maybe in “distance” but never in the heart. Many children in this world are or will be starting distant learning which makes it especially tough on the littlest learners to explore social-emotional learning and new friendships. However, it is what it is and we will be stronger for it!

I hope Tommy can help bring in some of those social-emotional tools your child might be missing when distant learning. In this episode, Tommy made friends through distance learning kindergarten! He even turned his friends into Lego People so he could “play” with them at his house!! As always, thanks for watching!

Sierra Is Nervous For Preschool

The first day of preschool for kids can be hard. It is hard learning a new routine, having “strangers” as your teachers and friends and ultimately leaving the comfort zone of your own home and family behind.

However, preschool should be a fun, exciting and happy time for all children. A time where you make friends, learn the basic skills of life and simply play! With that being said, I wish all the preschoolers the best year (Covid style) and I hope Sierra can help ease some fears. As always thanks for watching.

Tommy’s Distant Learning Kindergarten Puppet Show- Social Emotional Learning

Featured during Covid September 2020: This episode hits home because I have an upcoming kindergartner this year who will be distance learning part of the time if not all (as things change minute to minute). Kindergarten is supposed to be the most joyous time for children. The start of “school” for many.

The start of their next 15+ years of life basically! And for most kindergartners their experience will be so much different than from anything any of us have ever gone through. Their experience will be unique. It will be remembered. It will be celebrated (or these amazing kids will be). So if you have an upcoming kindergartener let’s enter this interesting, every changing, weird, confusing year as calm as possible HA!

I wish all the best to this year’s kindergartners! You will rock this!

Sierra Says, I Love My Face Mask! Social Emotional Learning Puppet Show On Face Masks

We are revisiting the face mask episode!! I was hoping we would only need to do an initial episode of a face mask but face masks have now become our life so another episode it is! If you didn’t see the first one you can go to the link in my bio and look for the “Superhero Face Mask” episode.

Here in Minnesota, we have been ordered to wear face masks in all public places now and to be honest,  it almost just comes natural to put one on before going in a public place now. There are no more stares (besides to see what cool mask you might be sporting) because it is unfortunately the new norm. So, Sierra once again talks about the importance of wearing your mask when you go places. Can we all hope this is the last face mask episode?! As always, thanks for watching!

“Tommy Teaches Social Distancing!” Social Emotional Learning For Health and Germs

Social distancing—such hard words for young children to understand. When their biggest job right now is to be social, distancing is crazy to them and to their natural development!  I had struggled for a long time on how I should do this one and my mom actually told me to teach it like an airplane! Thanks MOM! I LOVED that idea!

Kids love to make believe and being an airplane fits right in!  If they have their fun “arm wings” they will know how far apart to stay from other people! And if the other person also has wings on it should be a little less than 6 feet apart!

I hope your child can relate to Tommy somehow and if they don’t watch this, maybe you can get an idea of how to teach them about it.  Share with someone whose child could benefit from this lesson and as always, thanks for watching!

Tommy Gets Stung by a Bee- Social Emotional Puppet Show

Getting stung by a bee for the first time for a child can be traumatic which is why I chose this puppet topic. It is painful and scary  and it is hard for them to understand how something so little could cause so much pain and why?

The bee now becomes the most terrifying creature outside.  Not only is this scary for children but oftentimes for parents as well because you don’t know how your child might react to it. Hopefully Tommy can help ease the concern of a previous bee sting or a dreadful upcoming one!
