Mixing Colors Connect

Mix and connect the primary colors to make new colors! This is a simple way to practice identifying what primary colors make new colors. Ollie(3) has been very interested in mixing colors and knowing what colors make new colors so I set this up quick for him! Bonus – There is no mess of paint when mixing.

To Do: Just draw sets of colors so that it is easier for you to set-up, so draw a blue dot, yellow dot and green dot, and then repeat for the other colors–that way you know you have the right amount of colors.

Uncover the Heart

Only color the letters in your name!  This activity is so magical because you are unable to see the heart before you color (swipe to see before photo).  I told Max that there would be a surprise in the picture if he followed the directions:) The best part is that they don’t realize all of the letters in their name are around the middle in a heart shape so they are visually seeing and identifying other letters while looking just for theirs!

It is easy to do. You first draw the heart shape of hearts and fill those in with the letters in your child’s name. Then make hearts all over the page surrounding that heart. Then put all the other letters of the alphabet (besides the ones in their name) in all the rest of the hearts. I just went through the alphabet A-Z filling the hearts and then repeated while leaving out the letters in Max’s name. The letters of your child’s name should ONLY be used in the heart formation!

Punch the Pattern

My kids love using the hole punch or any punchers I have. They can sit and just punch a random piece of paper for a long time so I decided to try a heart shape  and incorporate the pattern to punch.  Even though they themselves are not making or even saying the pattern, they are visually seeing a pattern so it counts! And…it is AMAZING for fine motor work (small hand movements by getting the paper between the punches all while squeezing the puncher and holding the paper).

I used dot stickers to make the outside color pattern but you could use markers too (you could also have your child color the pattern themselves for an added step). If you don’t have punchers you could have them put stickers over the pattern to match colors or poke the pattern with qtip and paint.
