Watermelon Letter Poke

Wait! Don’t cut it yet! Yes, I am talking about your watermelon!

Before you cut it open turn it into a learning activity such as poke the letter! Many of us use pumpkins in the fall to pound things into but since it is summer I thought we could use a watermelon not only because it would be fun but also because it wouldn’t harm the watermelon that we would eventually eat! 

Initially I was just going to have Ollie (3) poke the watermelon but I decided to be more intentional about it and had him poke the letters! And when he was done playing….it was time to indulge!

To Do: Draw letters on your watermelon in permanent marker, give your child some push pins and POKE THE LETTERS!
