Cut & Read Sight Words
I tried to spice it up a bit and instead of my son just practicing saying his sight words, I had him cut them also! And if you couldn’t already guess yes, I did write the words in the shape of a tree to keep it festive! I don’t think it can get much simpler than this but he LOVED it! He was so into reading every word as he rotated the paper to cut. As I have mentioned in several previous posts I always like to get two skills in one activity.
In my preschool classroom this thinking works wonders to get double assessments in one (cutting and reading) which saves me so much time (however my preschoolers would be cutting the tree lined with the alphabet instead of sight words to make it more developmentally appropriate for them)! But since Max is in kindergarten, he got the sight words. To make it work for you, line the tree with whatever skill your child is working on and have them simply cut it out!
